Our school council is made up of three parts.
Class meeting - a regular meeting led by different children every time in your class.
Action teams - groups that are set up to run an activity, event or new idea.
The Communication team - the important group of pupils that help to run the model.
Although we are all eco warriors at Harrow Gate Academy, we have a small, dedicated group of children who meet together every week to discuss how they can make our school more eco-friendly and a more sustainable enironment. They are our Eco Club. They ensure that our school grounds are free of litter, they are champions for the environment in their classroom and solve problems together. Eco club empowers students to participate and take up meaningful environmental activities and projects.
We have been awarded with both Bronze and Silver awards by Eco-Schools and are working hard towards gaining Green Flag status. Eco-Schools was founded in 1994, operates in 70 countries and engages 19.5 million young people globally. This makes Eco-Schools the largest educational programme on the planet.
