Words can not capture the depth of sorrow we feel on hearing about the death of our friend, colleague and amazing teacher, Mrs Best.
For the past 10 years she has sprinkled her magic across the lives of so many of us. Her loss creates a massive void and will be felt for many years to come.
At this difficult time, her family are in our thoughts and prayers.

To honour Mrs Best's memory and commemorate her remarkable contributions to our school, we aim to create a memorial garden - a tranquil sanctuary where her spirit can flourish eternally. A place where students, staff and future generations can find solace and inspiration amidst nature's embrace.

Mrs Best, you were without question one of the most genuine, kind-hearted, people I have had the pleasure of knowing. The kindness, knowledge and training you gave me during our time together whilst I worked towards my T.A qualification will be forever appreciated and remembered, I truly thank you for that.

The most kindest soul I’ve ever met! I had the pleasure of being in ‘Miss Ahmed’s’ first class 10 years ago and she was the most helpful gorgeous teacher who always had a smile on her face. I was then lucky enough to have her for the last 3 years of primary school, and she would go through every every effort to make sure each pupil in that class felt loved and helped. Mrs Best also taught my brother and sister (Jessie and Joey), and whenever she saw us back in the school she would always make the effort to come and see me and check in on how we were all doing. I was also lucky enough to be able to do my work experience with Mrs Best and she supported me and inspires me to want to go to university. This is the most heartbreaking news, and my thoughts go to Mrs Best’s family, friends and pupils at this sad time :( :( xxx

Mrs Best, we can’t put into words how missed you are going to be, Finley absolutely adored you when you were his teacher in year 1 and you always said you felt robbed for not having a full year with him because of lockdown and he felt the same, I took a photo of you both on the last day and he will cherish it forever. Caitlin loved you just as much, even though you never got to teach her she still loved you for just being you, I remember when Finley went into year 3 and every day at home time they both used to run to the sports hall doors and come in for a cuddle and every day you were there waiting for them. They have so many memories of you to last forever. Thank you for all your support you showed me over the last few weeks, I will forever be grateful for this and never forget it. From the first day of us meeting you, you welcomed us in with your warming smile. Tilly had an amazing bond with you. After she left and went to secondary school you would always ask how she was and if she was liking school. When Tilly was with me you would ask her to stop growing, she was getting taller than you. When she cut all her hair you were the first to comment how you like it and how she suited it. When Ruby left and went to secondary, you’d always ask how she was too! Zac was in your class and he had an amazing bond with you too. He’s going to miss you, just like all the children! When I moved to Harrowgate Mrs Best was the first teacher I had and I'm so glad I did because at first I was scared new school, new people but Mrs Best always made sure that I felt welcomed and helped me make my first friends in that school. I will always remember the apology letter my mam made me wright for her when I was being a bit naughty and how much I felt bad because she was amazing to me. And even after I left that school she would also take the time out of her day to talk to me when I saw her, she would always tell me to stop growing as I had gotten taller then her and when I cut my hair short she would always tell me how brave I was for doing it and how she would never have he guts to do it. She would always tell me that she liked my hair and that I really suited it if I ever changed it or just because I had stopped to talk to her and she was being nice. I also want to say a really big thank you for that as it always helped me with my confidence. She is a kind hearted and genuine soul that will forever be missed. With her now gone we all hold a hole in our hearts where this 'short', energetic, beautiful and sweet woman once was but I know she will always be remembered and never forgotten. And another thank you for just being you. So my thoughts are with her family and friends. RIP Mrs Best (THE BEST)

Mrs Best is a teacher I’ll always remember. I was in her teachers training class in year 4 before she became my full time teacher for the last 2 years of my time in Harrowgate. She always wore a genuine smile that was always comforting to see. Such a kind and trusting soul. For as much as she won’t be here physically with us, I definitely know that our memories with her will keep her alive. An amazing lady who made such a difference in the lives of so many. Many children won't remember how they learned to read or how they can recall mathematical facts. I’m struggling to find the right words to write. I have been heartbroken since hearing of this dreadful news. Through all my years at Harrow Gate and beyond you were my friend, Sam. You were there when Chris and I got engaged and when we got married…you will always be in our hearts. Your beautiful smile and sense of humour, your kindness and positivity. A truly beautiful soul. Hello we are students from Harrow gate Primary when we heard the news about mrs best we were heartbroken we loved her so much and like we barely know what to say we miss her so much and we have been comforting the teachers just in case they get emotional we care so much for the teachers in the school and we will remember her threw out our lives. I really hope everyone is ok about it and you are allowed to feel how you want to also if someone is crying or need support please if you can comfort them we want to be kind and helpful for the teachers. We hope this will help and Maybe cheer some of the kids and teachers up and thank you for reading this.

I am so devastated to hear the tragic news about the ever cheerful Sam.
Sam worked for me some years ago and I can honestly say she was a joy to have work for me.
She brought a little spark to work whenever she walked in and I will always remember her smile, her positive energy and warmth.
My heartfelt condolences to all of her family on losing someone so special.
